Distinctive characters: 1. Body moderately slender; 2. Snout long and pointed, a noticeably hard; 3. Interdorsal ridge absent; 4. First dorsal fin small, with narrowly rounded apex, and a long free rear tip, its origin above or slightly posterior to inner rear corner of pectoral fins; 5. Grayish to gray-brown dorsally, shading to white ventrally; fins mainly plain except posterior margin of pectoral fins and ventral caudal-fin lobe sometimes with whitish margin.

| الصفات المميزة :ا 1. الجسم متوسط المتانة : 2. الخطم متوسط الطول ، ومدور كثيرا : 3. الحرف البين ظهري غائب ، او الحرف جدا ضعيف : 4. الزعنفة الظهرية الاولى متوسطة الحجم ، مدورة قليلا عند الطرف ، منشؤها فوق الزاوية الداخلية البعيدة للزعانف الصدرية : 5. لون الظهر رمادي ، اللون اسود واضح على طول الحافة الخلفية للزعنفة الذيلية ، الزعنفة الظهرية الاولى متجانسة اوطرفها ابيض .

Habitat, Biology and Fisheries:
Found in continental and insular shelves, depth range 1-170 m. Feeds on small fishes, crustaceans, and cephalopods. Usually solitary, but sometimes in small schools. Usually caught by longlines and hook-and-line.

Local Use:
Consumed for food; fishing by surface and bottom nets, and by surface and bottom hook and line; exported frozen or salted to the mainland and abroad.

الموئل والبيولوجيا ومصايد الأسماك :
ا
يتواجد في رفوف القارات والجزر المعزولة ، في اعماق تتراوح من 1 الى 170 م . يتغذى على الاسماك الصغيرة ، والقشريات ورأسيات الارجل . عادة يتم اصطياده بواسطة الخيوط الطويلة والخطاف-و-الخيط .

يستخدم كغذاء، الصيد بالشباك السطحية والقاعية والخيط والجلب؛ يصدر مجمداً أو مجففاً إلى البر الرئيسي وخارج اليمن
